Morning team,
Hope you’re all well. Personally in the watch space, I’ve started working on a couple of exciting new projects that are under wraps…but all will be revealed in due course.
But you’re probably not here to read about that this morning.
Let’s get into it.
Meet Jaclyn Li, the 24-Year-Old Harvard Student Who’s Become One the Watch World’s Most Refreshing Influencers
What a brilliant interview this is.
Having never spoken to Jaclyn but followed her Instagram for a long time, her story through watches so far feels relatable (just with a bit more end product).
It’s a pretty short read, just like this newsletter this week, but I’d definitely recommend giving it a read if you get a spare few minutes over on Robb Report.
FOIS Bracelets
Wayyyyy back when I was getting into watches in 2018, the First Omega In Space ticked all the boxes for me (as a spec sheet window shopper).
Less than 40mm lug width.
Alpha hands.
Excellent proportions.
The one issue was it was only available on strap and that strap was 19mm. Not that this really matters, but to my 18 year old self this was a ‘deal breaker’. There’s definitely a conversation to be had here around watches on bracelets vs straps and public perception.
That besides the point. This week I found myself thinking of the FOIS again for some unknown reason and I remembered this ‘bracelet issue’ from 5 years ago. Some quick Google searching and there’s now a plethora of options for a FOIS owner to pick up a change of shoes for their watch.
It’s just a shame that Omega discontinued the model a couple of years ago.
Hairspring Gets an Update
This was huge news last week.
But my email was already too long and I was late in sending it.
So here’s my reporting on Hairspring getting an update:
Erik of Hairspring has built up a pretty devoted audience and community over the last 7 years of running the Instagram and website reporting and sharing thoughts on the most interesting watches up for sale each week.
That’s why its super exciting that Erik has launched a section of the website titled ‘Exclusives’ where watches are retailed entirely in house.
It just goes to show that when you build up a community that trusts you they’ll trust what you have to offer and this is no exception.
Congrats to Hairspring on the launch.
You’ve got some incredible watches up at the moment.
Apologies that it’s a shorter one next week.
Life has kind of gotten in the way recently, but rest assured next week will be back to usual reporting.
Have a great weekend when we get there.
Owen
