Good morning team,
New segment idea this week.
As this edition falls in the week of my birthday, I’d like to introduce…
3-Watch Birthday: A Watches of the Year 2000
Maybe some of you remember these releases, or maybe I’m a bit young and naive, but let’s jump straight in.
3-Watch Birthday
Thanks to WatchWiki the task of finding watches released in my year of birth has been made a whole lot simpler.
Starting with Patek Philippe, in 2000 they released the 5100 10 Jours:
Honestly not ht most inspiring watch to start with.
Additionally, the Patek Philippe Twenty-4 was released:
A Lange & Sohne were busy at work with the release of the Lange 1 Tourbillon:
Pretty good if you ask me. Worth checking out Langepedia’s article on A. Lange & Söhne Lange 1 Tourbillon.
IWC launched the Portuguese Automatic 2000 featuring the calibre 5000:
Whilst Bulgari released the Scuba GMT:
and the Chrono Amplificator:
But really, I’ve saved the best til last.
I researching this piece, I found from Stephen Foskett on WatchWiki, Chopard purchased the building of Fabrique d'ébauches de Fleurier, part of Ebuches S.A. in 2000 after purchasing the brand in the year 1996.
Chopard then went on to release their second in-house calibre, the LUC 1.98 (pictured below):
Iconic and beautiful…I couldn’t have asked to be born in a year with a better movement 👀.

In the Making: Sartory Billard SB08 Jump Hour and Minutes with Tourbillon
I don’t often read Revolution, but I did see this article come up visiting Sartory Billard and their jump hour movement with tourbillon.
I particularly enjoyed the technical perspective.
You can enjoy it here.
Vacheron Constantin Mercator
Did you see this post from singaporewatchclub?
Wow.
And this from ACM?
There’s Mercator-mania at the minute and it’s easy to see why 🤩.
It’s just so aesthetic.
Sorry for the monologue, I’m just loving this watch this week.
Thanks a lot for reading this week.
Apologies if it’s a bit short, I’ll be looking to do a bit of a longer issue next week.
Have a great weekend when we get there!
