Hey Team,
4th edition of 3-Watch Thursday today and I’ve got 31 more watch-related articles/releases/stories/videos to share with you!
Let’s dive straight in!
Baltic X Peter Auto Tricompax
In case you missed it in the last 5 years, Baltic has been going from strength to strength ever growing in popularity.
A couple of weeks ago they released a limited edition racing chronograph in collaboration with Peter Auto.
First thoughts…
WOW!!!
What a promo video. I loved how it was filmed and styled. I immediately wanted one.
Second thoughts…
Split-second stopwatches!?!?!
These were hands down my favourite part of the release. To the best of my knowledge2, no other mainstream watch brand3 is making split-second stopwatches.
I love them.
It’s a shame Baltic isn’t selling them as a stand-alone product.
I don’t think it’s a disservice to say you get two dash-mounted split-second stopwatches and a tricompax racing chronograph thrown in for free.
Congrats to anyone who managed to pick one up in the technically challenged release4.
Your Kids Won’t Want Your Watch Collection — The Lies We Watch Collectors Tell Ourselves
These kinds of tongue in cheek articles from Fratello are some of my favourite.
This one tackles the things collectors tell themselves to make them feel better for buying more watches. It’s light-hearted and fun to take a look from the outside, inwards to the bubble we often find ourselves in.
My favourite part, was this comment from LT_SUPERSWEDE:
I traded my kids for a watch, deal of a lifetime !
I greatly hope this isn’t true.

Understanding The New Middle Class Of Watchmaking
A favourite piece from the big H this week courtesy of reader Logan Baker.
A well researched and almost refreshing piece on the “mid-priced” sector of the watch market, exploring how the big Swiss watch brands and groups have shifted their businesses towards the upper end of the market.
Coupled with the rise of the Apple Watch, a gap has opened up and new brands have popped up to fill it.
I really love the variety but my one criticism is maybe it could’ve been longer. Some areas feel unexplored.
That’s my 2-cents.

Bonus: MB&F EVO
Geneva Watch Week took place this week and an eagerly anticipated release was the third installment in MB&F’s Evo collection.
The watch was a hit. The Evo Split Escapement fits right into the MB&F catalogue, but the best bit…the video on MB&F’s Instagram.
Check it out here!
Safe to say, I wasn’t expecting to see clips of MB&F watches being used in that way.
Bonus not included.
I would gladly be corrected here. Please send links if you know of any others.
Mainstream in the sense that they are well known amongst collectors.
No fault of Baltic’s.
I love those Baltic watch faces. Stunning!
