Good morning team,
Hope you’re all well. The last week has been pretty busy on the content-sharing front, and I don’t see things slowing up soon as we edge closer to auction season.
Heck! Last week even I was looking at the auction catalogues on the train trying to work out what was cool and what most definitely wasn’t.
My tastes have certainly changed over the last 6-12 months towards finding rarer and more interesting auction lots (something I wasn’t expecting), but you’re not here to listen to me ramble on about this1…you want more content and grateful I’ll oblige to give it to you.
Christopher Ward: Do Your Research
This week, I was pleasantly surprised to find the Christopher Ward slogan of ‘Do Your Research‘, directed at demonstrating the value they offer, to be turned into a webpage and archive for you to actually Do Your Research!
While most CWs no longer appeal to me, it’s one of the first watch brands I encountered at a young age, being well, young and British.
I remember flicking through the Top Gear magazine trying to work out what watches were good enough, but also reasonably priced enough, to ask for my 18th.
Since then, they’ve made big strides into going mainstream with billboards, TV ads and one of the most hyped watches of last year.
It’s nice to see them coming through and allowing potential customers a way to start diving into the world of watches, and I hope the ‘Learn Watches’ and ‘Articles’ sections become more fleshed out with time!
Subdial: The Swatch Effect
Here at 3-Watch Thursday, we love a good infographic, and while a few weeks ago I wrote that the Swatch X Blancpain might not be as big for Blancpain as the Swatch X Omega was for Omega, it’s pretty clear the move by Blancpain was largely positive for getting people looking at Blancpain.
Thanks Subdial for the insight.

Podcasts
A couple of recent podcast episodes caught my attention recently!
Firstly, your other favourite 👀 weekly newsletter author who publishes on a certain day beginning with F- featured on GB Talks (not to be confused with GB News lol).
Chris Hall talks on how he made it to where he is now:
Then came the Escpament24 talking to Max Brüsser on MB&F, watches and cars.
Thoroughly worth checking out at the link here!
Rolex
Did anyone else see this Instagram post from Rolex and notice something…odd?
It’s a nice photo, but looks remarkably…normal.
The kind of photo where you or I place the watch flat on a clean table, wait for the sun to come across, and *bang* get a quick snap.
Obviously, this is a level above that but it was an interesting break from the usually hyper-clean render-style imagery Rolex tends to use.
A deeper meaning could the to do with the reflections in the lugs. It appears to show some kind of building (or race track?) in the background, but maybe that’s reading into it too much🤔.
Rolliefest 2023 in New York: Join the Excitement of This Incredible Watch Gathering
You’ve all seen the RollieFest coverage from a couple of weeks ago where every watch person on the East Coast headed to NY for the hottest of hot Rolex watches.
There have been numerous articles since, but I really enjoyed this one over on Bulang & Sons.
I had no idea there was an editorial side of Bulang & Sons and figured you probably didn’t either!

Hope you’ve enjoyed reading and have a lovely weekend when we get there.
